Cross Part. Ten

Part Ten. Dark Truth.

  Thorn swears to himself, "DAMMIT!" he punches a hole in the library wall with blunt strength. "Wait..." Rose says as she brings out an ancient tome, the group was curious what the book was, "This library is known for holding many secrets." Rose said with a smirk as she opens the book, the book was about mythical beings and items, she flips through the page till she reaches the page about the werewolf species.

  The book gives the basics, Werewolves are humans cursed with turning into a wolf like monster once a month. Their lives are prolonged to last centuries, as the full moon approaches they become stronger and stronger and are the weakest during the new moon. They do eat human beings rarely, but if a victim can survive a werewolf attack that person will become a werewolf themselves. It then lists ways to kill wolves, advising against taking a werewolf on while it’s in wolf form or in the days leading up to or following a transformation. It says wolves have a long history of wars with vampires, some vampires enslaved wolves as pets, and no vampire could match a wolf in a one on one fight while in wolf form. So vampires usually attacked wolves when they were weakest during the new moon. 

“Interesting,” says Thorn, “but I still don’t see any cures.” “There are none,” says Rose, “only death.” Thorn was shocked to hear that there was no cure, he was going into deep denial, Rose tries to calm Thorn down but he was getting a bit pissed off, "Dammit...When I get my hands on that wolf I am going to rip out his intestines and hang him from them!" Drake interrupted, “Well we should try finding him right away instead of waiting for them to attack us in our beds again.” Drake said in agreement but Sam interrupted, “There is no way, you've become a ticking time bomb that can kill us all. We can't allow you near our kind right now. Werewolves are more dangerous than any human hunter.” Thorn was silent about what he said. He stood up from his bed and storms down into the cellar under the library, it almost looked like a dungeon in there for there was some cell rooms, they did use the room for storage but now Thorn locks himself in one of the rooms; Rose ran to the door trying to convince him that they will find something to help him. "Brother! Please come out!" She said as she was banging on the iron door. "I don't want to hurt those that are close to me! Go away!" Thorn shouted as he sat down on the bed in the room as he held his head in his hands, he didn't want to hurt his sister, he wants to protect her then harm her. Rose was trying to tell her brother that everything was going to be okay but he just wouldn't listen, Rose was about to try to open the door until Drake put his hand on her shoulder. “Leave him alone, talking isn't what he needs. We have another question to answer, why did these people attack us? And will they come back?” Rose was silent about this when Thorn spoke out. "He's right...It's best that I sit this one out until I can figure out how to control this problem... You guys can do alright... And sis... I still have that promise that I must keep..." Thorn said calmly. Drake notices tears starting to form in Rose's eyes; he remembers when Rose I. was crying beside him, he pulls her close and gives her an embrace to comfort her. She was blushing when he hugged her, she was trying to stop crying and go back to staying strong but her feelings were getting the best of her, he could feel her heart racing.

Drake asks of what they should do now, "We should find them, their car isn't very different than the others, and it’s armored so it is easy to track." Rose said as she wipes away the tears. “Let’s go then.” Drake, who's scared of getting into a car, decides to fly ahead and scout the higher ground while Rose gets on a bike and rides off and follows for the search in the streets.
